Derek Ernest Stettler

Derek Ernest Stettler, 42, passed away on December 13, 2022, in Pocatello ID.


Derek was born November 17, 1980, in Logan UT. With his family, as a child, he moved to Colorado Springs, CO, then to Culver City, CA where he experienced life as a child actor. He later continued growing up in Montrose, CO then to Logan, UT where he graduated high school in 1999.


Derek married Melinda Sue Taylor October 2002. Together they have three surviving children: Conner Ernest, Kaeden Taylor, and Kylie Sue. Derek then married Holly Stettler-Bauer June 2012. Together they have one surviving child: Lexington Paige.


Derek is further survived by his parents: Cleon Richard Stettler and Kathy Poppleton Miller (Gregg); siblings: Corban Stettler, Erin Stettler Kissel, Kenny Olsen, Kevin Olsen and Michael Olsen.


Derek served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chile. Derek last worked with Sodexo, a contractor for Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello ID. He previously worked for eight (8) years at Idaho Department of Corrections. He obtained certifications in and was a very active instructor of the Idaho CERT and ARCON with “Less Lethal” correction protocols. He served as the food service specialist. 


He loved LARP (live action role playing) as well as tabletop RPG (Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, ETC). He was an organizer as well as a gamer and an educator in many subjects.
