Dennis Paul Whitworth, 80, was born February 21, 1939 and passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 peacefully at his home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Dennis was born in Inkom, Idaho to Clarence Dell Whitworth and Ona Maude Richardson. He attended the Old Inkom School and later Marsh Valley High School. He excelled in school and every sport he tried, especially football and basketball. After graduation in 1957 from Marsh Valley High School he met the love of his life Emma May Raines in Pocatello, Idaho. They were married on June 4, 1960 in Bell Gardens, California and were later sealed in the Logan Temple on May 11, 2006. Dennis worked at Lockheed Aircraft while living in California. After returning to his home town of Inkom, he went to work for the Inkom Cement Plant in 1973. After working for 28 years he retired and worked with his wife building their home business, Mays Ceramics. They worked together for over 36 years and loved traveling across the country doing ceramic trade shows. Along the way they made many lifelong friends who they loved dearly. Dennis enjoyed golf, horseshoes, sports, and most of all spending time with his family. Dennis worked hard all his life providing for his family and was loved dearly. He was an avid fan of Marsh Valley sports and rarely missed a game and loved doing the radio play by play with his dear friend Richard Stephenson. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, he spend a lifetime serving others and the church in many callings. Dennis is survived by his wife Emma May Whitworth; three children and a niece, Chris Whitworth (Susan), Denise Veilleux (Rick), Ronda Whitworth, and Nickie Lish (Dale); 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister June and 3 brothers, Lin, Kent, and Alan. He is preceded in death by his parents Dell and Ona, two sisters and a brother, Virgina, Joann, and Karl. Services will be held Monday, April 22 at the Inkom Rapid Creek Ward LDS Chapel, 973 N. Rapid Creek, Inkom, Idaho at 11am. Family will visit friends Sunday evening 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 South 4 th Avenue, Pocatello and also Monday morning from 9:30-11:00 am at the church prior to services. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to: The American Cancer Society 2676 South Vista Avenue, Boise, Idaho 83705 on behalf of Dennis Whitworth.
