Dennis Murphy

Dennis Franklin Murphy, 76 passed peacefully on March 31, 2020.

Dennis was born on January 8, 1944 in Chadron, Nebraska to Lucille E. (Whitley) and Lester James Murphy.

Dennis received his education at the Nebraska School for the Deaf (NSD) at a young age. He then attended public school. He attended high school at NSD until the end of his junior year when his parents moved to South Dakota, and he graduated in 1962 from SDSD. After high school, he then attended the Gallaudet University, in Washington D.C., and it was the only college for the deaf at that time. He later received his Associate of Graphic Arts and Offset Press in 1989.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Wava Murphy; two brothers, Ken (Linda) Murphy, Rapid City, SD; Mike (Sheryl) Homan, Papillian, NE; children, Kevin Murphy, Shanna Torres, Lester Murphy; step-daughter, Jennifer Marchese; five grandchildren, Owen Murphy, (the grandchild he was able to spend the most time with and truly cherished that relationship) Adam Murphy, Mark Torres, Stephanie Torres, Jennifer Torres; four step-grandchildren, Billy Marchese, Sarah Marchese, Katie Marchese, Topher Marchese; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and two children.

Dennis' family has chosen to not have public services held at this time. He will be laid to rest with his family in their family plots.
