Dennis Dee Cherry

Dennis Dee Cherry, 73, passed away on December 8, 2023. He was born on March 13, 1950, to Erma Barnes Cherry and Rawls Brooks Cherry in Downey, Idaho.

He lived and attended school in Downey until 1957, when they moved to Pocatello. He attended Downey Elementary, Alameda Jr. High, and graduated from Highland High School in 1968.

He spent his high school years working at service stations and car washes, and spent six years in the National Guard. He later went to work for Idaho Power as a lineman.

He married JoAnne Dahmer in 1969. They had three children, Nichole Denise Cherry being born on JoAnne’s birthday, October 14, 1970; Kimi Jo Cherry (Martin) being born on Dennis’ birthday, March 13, 1972; and Dennis Brandt Cherry on December 5, 1975. They later divorced.

In 1976, he started DC Landscaping, which he maintained until his retirement in 2021.

Dennis met Randi Lindablad and they later married in Reno, Nevada. Randi brought two sons to the family, Todd and Gary Strong. They went on to bring another addition on November 20, 1980, Justin Cale Cherry. They were married for 17 years, later divorcing in 1994.

Dennis was preceded in death by both his parents, Erma Cherry and RB Cherry; brother, Doug Cherry, and brother-in-law, Barney Frey.

He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Frey; his children, Nichole Cherry, Kimi Martin (Mark), Brandt Cherry and Justin Cherry (Brandi); grandchildren, Devon Westbrook, Jennifer Westbrook, Skyler Martin (McKenzie), Kaden Martin, Talen Martin, Dylan Cherry, Baylee Cherry, and three great grandchildren, Linkyn Martin, Kohen Martin and Troy Westbrook.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID 83202.
