Deloi Tubbs

d. July 24, 2012

DeLoi A. Tubbs, 84, a lifelong resident of Pocatello, returned to his Father in Heaven on Tuesday July 24, 2012 He was born the 2 nd of three sons to Alexander and Maude Bennett Tubbs on December 17, 1927. He received his education in Pocatello where he graduated from Pocatello High School. He played on the football team and was a member of the P Club. DeLoi married his high school sweetheart, Lois M. Crofts in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on April 2, 1948. They were blessed with six daughters from this union. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in several callings where he was an influence for good in the lives of many. He especially enjoyed working with the youth of the church keeping him young at heart. He had fond memories of his service as the Bishop of the 29 th Ward. He also enjoyed callings in the Elders Quorum, stake and ward athletics, High Council, and Young Men Program. DeLoi loved sports and after playing himself spent many years coaching little league football, baseball, and basketball. He enjoyed sharing his love of sports with his children and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys in life was going to the various activities of his children and grandchildren. He was and is so proud of all of them and their accomplishments. He loved yearly family vacations to Disneyland. He loved long rides in the car and camping with the family. Christmas is his favorite time of year and his home reflected that year round. This explains his loving and giving nature. He was always there for anyone in need and willing to give all that he had to help others. He leaves a wonderful example behind for his family. DeLoi loved to tell stories of his many jobs starting with sneaking away from home as a little boy to water the elephants when the circus would come to town. He would receive free tickets to the Circus as his pay. He was a hard worker and did a variety of jobs growing up. He was a switchman at UPRR, worked in maintenance at the Gun Plant, and finally retired from Garrett Freight Lines after 30 years on the job. After retirement the love of his life Lois, became ill and he lovingly cared for her until her death on November 3, 1989. As a family we are comforted by the joyful reunion we know they are enjoying. We love you and will remember you as the greatest Dad, Father in Law, and Gramps!
