Delmar Rex Irish

Delmar Rex Irish, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 in Pocatello, Idaho of natural causes.

Private family graveside services were held at the Twin Falls City Cemetery , April 3, 2020.
Delmar was born August 24, 1928 in Brocksburg, Nebraska to Albert L. Irish and Goldie M. Wales. He was one of 10 children. At the age of 13 the family left their two bedroom house and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. They settled on Quincy Street, which is where he met the love of his life, Frances Kathryn Smith.
He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and while home on leave he convinced Frances to marry him on March 17, 1951. She was 17 and he was 22. After two years of serving they settled in Twin Falls where he returned to his job at Utah Wholesale.
They had four children. One daughter, Shannon and three sons, Gary, Brad and Bryan.
After 21 years he left Utah Wholesale and went to work for Safeway as Produce Manager. He retired from Safeway but then worked for Persons and Andersons IGA part time.
In 1994 he and Frances moved to Pocatello. They enjoyed many winters in Yuma, Arizona with friends and family. Summers were spent enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved driving trucks during the potato harvest.
Delmar was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he and Frances were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on their 55th wedding anniversary.
When Frances passed away he moved to Cottonwood Cove, where he spent the last year and a half of his life. That time was greatly enhanced by his relationship with his friend Carol Engel. They enjoyed the Senior Citizen dances, eating dinner together and watching television.
He was so loved by anyone who knew him but especially his family, Each one of us thought we were his favorite, and he truly was ours!
He is survived by his daughter Shannon M. Sudweeks (Dennis), Pocatello: sons, Bradley K. Irish (Dixi) Twin Falls and Bryan C. Irish (Tammy), Pocatello. One sister Wanda Cunningham (Earl), Wendell. 15 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 siblings, his wife Frances and son Gary A..
A graveside celebration will be held August 2, 2020 at the Twin Falls Cemetery at 2:00p.m..
