Our mother Dellcene Hughes, 95, passed away on January 22, 2018, at a hospital in Idaho Falls, ID, with her family by her side. Dellcene was born on March 29, 1922 to Jay and Marcena Whiting in Pocatello, ID. The family lived mainly around the Pocatello area. She was the 6th of 12 children. There were 6 boys and 6 girls; Grace, Arch, Russell, Reese, Juanita, Dellcene, Rachael, Donna, Calvin, Boice, Shirley and Leon. She spent a lot of time, babysitting and caring for her younger siblings. She married William Monroe Pierce on July 3, 1938. They lived in Malta, Idaho, where Margreatte was born. They then moved to Pocatello where Ramona, Terry and Billy were born. They moved quite a lot because William started working in construction. They were active with square dancing and The Grange. They bought a hotel caf and bar in Clayton, Idaho. They divorced and she later married Elvin Hughes on November 26, 1969. They lived in Florida where she started quilting. She judged at fairs. Her quilts won many blue ribbons. They were also involved in the VFW. When they moved, back to Pocatello, Elvin passed away on August 25, 1999. Dellcene kept busy by doing her quilting, she was an active board member at the Senior Activity Center, and she loved playing cards and was a master of The Grange. Dellcene is survived by her children, Margreatte (Bud) Boodry, Chubbuck, Idaho, Terry Pierce, Salmon, Idaho and Bill Pierce, Seabeck, Washington; brothers, Calvin, and Boice; sister, Shirley (Roger) Rasmussen; step-children, Nancy Hendricks, Pocatello, Idaho, Charlotte (John) Passey, Provo, Utah, and Marcene (Terry) Holmes, Troy, Montana. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ramona Sommer; four brothers; and four sisters. Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11 am at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID, with a viewing from 9:30-11 am prior to services at Colonial. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
