Dell Grant Ludwig, 77, passed away November 27, 2018 at home from complications due to Parkinsons. He was born on March 7, 1941 to Margaret and Leo Welker in St. Anthony, Idaho. When he was three, he was adopted by his new stepfather O.C. Ludwig, Jr. He was raised in San Diego and graduated from Crawford High School in 1959. He was active in basketball, baseball, and track. He also enjoyed spending time with all of his nieces and nephews. As a young man he served a 2 1/2-year mission to Brazil from 1960-1963. While there he was able to work the Pan-American games as a translator. Upon returning, he attended BYU and graduated in 1967. After graduation, a friend talked him into moving to Detroit where he met his wife Sandra Hilden. They were married in the Logan Temple in 1969. While living in Michigan, their first child, Jason, was born. Shortly after, they moved to Ohio where a second son was born, Darik. In 1973, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho to be closer to family. Here, two more sons were born, Brandon and Kevin, and then their only daughter, Janella. Dell worked for Sears, School District #25, and retired after 22 years at the post office. He loved photography, scrapbooking, drawing, ballroom dancing, collecting baseball cards, fantasy baseball leagues, and genealogy. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and OC, Leo Welker; brothers, Leon Jenks (Elva), Erwin Jenks (Joanne), Ray Jenks (Joyce-living), Bill Jenks (Marlene-living), and Gary Jenks (Joyce-living). He is survived by his wife Sandra; and his five children and their families, Jason (Bethany), Eagle, ID, Darik (Candace), Boise, ID, Brandon, Pocatello, Kevin, Pleasantville, UT, and Janella Chapman, Pocatello; along with many nieces and nephews. Thanks to One Source Home Health and Hospice for the loving care. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6-7:30 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11 am at the LDS Church, 1433 Gwen Dr. Pocatello, ID, with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
