Dean Jensen Groesbeck

April 6, 1942 — July 5, 2012

Dean Jensen Groesbeck, 70, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend and resident of Pocatello, Idaho passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2012. He was born in Toppenish, Washington to Gertrude Enid Jensen and Richard Edgar Groesbeck.

He graduated from Orem High School in 1960. Following his graduation he served in the National Guard and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Canadian Mission from 1961 to 1963. After returning from his mission he enrolled in classes at Utah Valley School of X-ray Technology, he received his Certificate of Graduation as a Radiologic Technologist. After completing this program he went to work at Logan Regional LDS Hospital in Logan, Utah as an X-ray technician and department head. He was employed there for 8 years. He then went to work for Saint Anthony Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. In 1976 he went to work for Pocatello Radiology Associates as the business manager. He was employed there for 25 years.

He married Julia Carolyn Pyne on May 7, 1964 in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. They enjoyed church service, family activities and rafting the Salmon River with their friends. Together they served a mission to the England London South Mission from February 2002 to October 2003.

His heart was with his family in camping, family parties, entertaining grandchildren, woodworking with and for his family, working outside with grandchildren, mowing the lawn, and family projects.

Dean was a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and lived to serve others. He served as a bishop of the 25th, 48th, and University 10th ward, a counselor in the stake presidency, counselor in a mission presidency, executive secretary, ward mission leader, Sunday School teacher, home teacher and was presently serving as the Patriarch of the YSA First Stake.

Dean is survived by his wife Julia Groesbeck, Pocatello, Idaho. Children; John (Jana) Groesbeck, Santa Rosa, California; Mindy (Dewey) Richardson, Smithfield, Utah; Brad (Lis) Groesbeck, Blackfoot, Idaho; Julean (Clay) Watt, Ammon, Idaho; Paul (Janis) Groesbeck, Blackfoot, Idaho, a brother Phillip (Karen) Groesbeck, Orem, Utah, 19 surviving grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents of Richard and Enid Groesbeck of Orem, Utah; his brothers Calvin Groesbeck, Kent Groesbeck, Allen Groesbeck; and sister Joan Smith.
