David "Diamond Dave" Leon, 69, of Moab Utah formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer. He remained thankful to our Lord for every new day until quietly slipping into a coma. David was born in East Chicago, IN and traveled extensively throughout his lifetime. He retired from Pitney Bowes in Salt Lake City, UT. He lived in Uvalde, TX. before finally settling among his beloved mountains in Moab, UT. He is survived by his daughter, Luz Leon; grandsons, Christopher and Jared; dear mother Lucy V. Guzman; siblings, Anita (Jose) Bass, Cecelia Suarez and Rosemary (Jose Medina) all of Texas, John (wendy) Herrera of Massachusetts, Edward (Irma) Herrera, Elizabeth (Joseph) Arredondo, Guadalupe Guzman, Alfredo Guzman, Jesus (Annabelle) Guzman, Francisco (Christina) Guzman, Guillermo (Irene) Guzman, all of Indiana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and devoted friend, Christine Walker. He is preceded in death by his father, Crescenzio Leon; grandparents, Eulogia Garcia Alvarez and Rafael M. Valdez; dear brother-in-law, Gabriel Suarez and step-father, Francisco Guzman Sr. David loved life, listening to music, watching old movies, and dancing. He was a gentle, helpful soul and will be truly missed by his family and friends. As per his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass was held with Father Alphonse Skerl presiding at Holy Trinity Hungarian Church at 9:00 AM Saturday, October 25, 2014.
