David Edward Leissring

David E. Cowan Leissring, 62, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 after a strong and courageous battle with COPD, and a serious heart condition, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born September 28, 1952 to Virgil W. Cowan and Patricia Lou Hunter in Cheyenne, Wyoming. David graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1971. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976. He was also in the Reserves for two years following his active duty. He was also a very proud member of the POW/MIA Association. He worked for the Union Pacific Rail Road for 22 years. In 1990, while living in Salt Lake City, Utah, David met his wife, best friend and soul mate, TerryLynn and her daughter, Samantha. They moved to Inkom, Idaho where they made their home and became a family. David and TerryLynn were married on July 24, 2004. David was a very beloved and devoted husband and father. David loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved spending time with the love of his life, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, building and remodeling things. He became friends with everyone he met, and enjoyed helping people any way he could. David is survived by his wife, TerryLynn; daughter, Samantha; sisters, Lynda (Al) Lam, Kathy (Glen) Williams; brother, Michael (Christie) Leissring all of Pocatello, ID; 7 nieces, 9 nephews, 2 great nieces, and 5 great nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Sidney and Virginia Chadd; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 12 noon at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 208-233-1500, with a viewing for one hour prior to services also at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Inkom Idaho Cemetery with Military Rites by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
