David C. Munn

February 23, 1947 — February 11, 2018

David C. Munn, 70, passed away peacefully at his home February 11, 2018 surrounded by his family.

David was born February 23, 1947 at St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello Idaho to Wilma and Calvin Munn. He was the youngest of three brothers. The oldest being Calvin E. Munn and middle brother Billy Joe Munn. Being the youngest, he very much enjoyed the company of his two brothers and their families to follow. The Munn family worked a cattle business on their land on Portneuf Road south of Pocatello for many years, a business they also taught to their children. David became an accomplished horseman and learned the meaning and benefits of hard work. Dave dabbled a little in rodeo, boxing, and had a special affinity for cars in his teen years. David completed his basic training in the summer of 1964 and served proudly in the Army National Guard for four years. David graduated from Pocatello High School in 1966. He was honorably discharged from Army Reserve duty in September 1968. Dave then began a 38 year welding career working various freelance jobs including at Main Street Welding in Idaho Falls, Spudnik, Partners Steel, and Jim Bridger Power Plant (WY) before becoming a booked union member in Salina KS. In 1977, David transferred his book from Coffeyville KS to Pocatello ID and joined Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 648 and continued working out of this local until his retirement in November 2006. During his extensive career under local 648, David worked all over the country in different places, he worked for the INEL under various subcontractors, a nuclear powerplant in Arkansas, Moss Landing Power plant in California, the Alaskan pipeline, and Anaconda MT to name a few. David knew how to work hard but enjoyed playing hard as well. His hobbies included motorcycling, road bikes, & travel. He loved horses, fishing, the outdoors, harvesting firewood, spending time with family, and very much loved his dogs Kronk and Bebe.

David was survived by his brother Bill (Bertha) Munn, Daughters Neely (Andy) Stone, Michelle (Jerry) Cloward, Amy Goodman, Rosemary (Jason) Payne, and Holly (Kelly) Gregson. Grandchildren Stephanie Miller, Joseph (Chessie) Meyer, Kellyrae (Marvin) Gholston, Stetson Stanger, Paul Goodman, Alexis Cornelius, Cheyenne Payne, Cole Gregson, Abigail Payne, and Mason Cornelius. He was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Quinleigh Ellis, twins, Keiky and Eyssence Gholston, and Cruze Meyer .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin A. Munn and Wilma Sturman Munn and eldest brother Calvin E. Munn.

In addition to his family, David had and enjoyed many, many friends that enriched his life greatly. He was very comforted by his friends and family in his final days. He will be missed and remembered by many.
