David B Yates

David Benjamin Yates, beloved son of Joseph and Barbara Yates, passed away in the arms of his family at Portneuf Medical Center Wednesday morning, October 15, 2015. He was 32 years old. Cause of death was sudden cardiac/respiratory failure.

David loved the outdoors, finding great joy four-wheeling with his parents in the beautiful hills and forests of Southeast Idaho, family cookouts at Scout Mountain, the beaches of Bear Lake, and other family activities. He was highlighted in the 2007 book, "A Cup of Comfort for Parents of Children with Autism", authored under the pseudonym Rebekah Schow.

In 1995 David was privileged to meet with Gordon B. Hinckley, then President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. David enjoyed distinct gifts of the Spirit promised to those who revere the name and teachings of Jesus Christ.

David enjoyed music, videos, working with his hands and spending time with his family.

Hi is survived by his parents, Joseph and Barbara Yates, two brothers, Joe (Jessica) Yates and Dan (Julie) Yates, and three sisters; Laurie Yates, Kristi Yates, and Tara (Bret) Chipman, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents as well as his aunt Dorothy Howard of Brigham City.

A viewing will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Friday, October23 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24 at the LDS Chapel located at the corner of Butte and Hiskey Streets with concluding services at Mountain View Cemetery.
