Dave "David" Gene Garnett, 79, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 9 am at the Gateway Transitional Care Center after a lengthy illness. Dave was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on Monday, June 28, 1937 at 9 am to Chester and Modelle Garnett. He served as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army and was also a commercial artist. His favorite pass time was listening to Gospel and Country music and reading Louis L'Amour books. His last wish was to be with his family that he loved dearly. Dave is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Garnett; his 5 children, Arleigh (Larry) Morton, Teresa (Dan) Barreiro, Ramona (Bruce) Hume, Shawn (Priscilla) Garnett and Dawn (Michael) Bonilla; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, C.J. Garnett, Joe Ed Garnett; sisters, Oma June Pitzer and Mona Beth Follis. He is preceded in death by his father, Chester Baton Garnett; mother, Mattie Modelle Price; and brother, Ray Don Garnett. Dave will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A special thank you to all of the staff at Gateway Transitional Care Center and also all of the hospital and hospice teams. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1 pm also at Colonial Funeral Home, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services. Burial, with Army Military Honors, will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83204.
