On Friday, November 5, 2021 surrounded by his family, Darrin Barney Robertson returned to his heavenly home. Darrin was born September 5, 1961 to Ruth Barney Orr and Reed Delane Robertson in Rexburg, Idaho. As a child, Darrin lived in several locations due to his father’s employment. He lived in Rexburg and Chubbuck Idaho, Walla Walla, Washington, Hooper, Utah, and Dubois, Idaho. Darrin learned at a young age the value of hard work and helped to support his family. He graduated as a bobcat at Clark County High School in Dubois, Idaho in 1979. After graduation he attended Technical College for Diesel Mechanics in Orem, Utah.
He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Antonio, Texas from 1980-1982. When he returned home he lived in Arco, Idaho. Darrin loved the gospel. He served in several different callings throughout his life. Darrin had fond memories of hunting, fishing and camping as a child. After his mission he pursued his interest in guns and attended gunsmithing school in Denver, Colorado where he gained an education and built his first gun.
Darrin always had a love for his country and the founding of our nation. He joined the Army National Guard in 1983 and served for six years. He did basic training in Fort Dix, New Jersey and was attached to the 126th Engineer Company which was a dump truck company in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Darrin met the love of his life, DeAnna Bywater, in Rexburg and on January 16, 1986 they were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple. Darrin attended Ricks College and pursued an Animal Science degree and went on to pursue a Nursing degree at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. During these schooling years he became the proud father of four children, Nolan, Janessa, Megan, and Mariah. He once again went back to school and got his Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree from Rush University. After which he opened his own business, New Horizons Mental Wellness Clinics, which he ran for eight and a half years and later acquired Upper Valley Resource and Counseling. Darrin loved helping others and touched and influenced many lives throughout this time.
Darrin was the proud grandfather to eight grandchildren. They brought him so much joy. Family was everything; they meant the world to him. Darrin was a farm boy at heart and raised many animals. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and he passed down his love of animals and his love of the mountains and outdoors to them. He was known for his positive attitude, fun sense of humor and his laughter. Darrin we love you and are grateful families are forever.
Darrin is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Orr, his sister and brother-in-law Delana and Steve Marler, his sister Barbara Pettingill, and his granddaughter Avaya Robertson.
He is survived by his wife DeAnna Robertson, his children Nolan (Jessica) Robertson, Janessa (Michael) Smuin, Megan (Andrew) Haddock, Mariah (Trent) Savage; His grandchildren Kyrie Smuin, Adyson Smuin, Kaydence Haddock, Porter Haddock, Savannah Smuin, Paxton Smuin, and Brynlee Robertson; His stepfather Marshall Orr and his siblings Beverly (Paul) Muir, Cliff (Megan) Robertson, his stepsiblings Stephanie (Todd) Anselmi, Layne (Bonnie) Orr, D’Nette Orr, and Greg Orr.
There will be a viewing held Thursday, November 11th at the Wilks Funeral Home at 211 West Chubbuck Road Chubbuck, ID 83202 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, November 12th from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Chubbuck Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 450 James Ave. Chubbuck, ID 83202. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
