Darlene Taylor

Darlene Taylor, 93, passed away December 1, 2019 in Pocatello, Idaho. Her family visited with her often at the Idaho State Veterans Home where she was cared for lovingly by the wonderful staff. Darlene was born November 12, 1926, the 6th of 7 children to Sarah Daw and William Van Sickle in Ashton, Idaho. On January 16, 1946, she married Thomas "Junior" Taylor and they moved to Blackfoot where they raised their two children, Tom and Ted, on their small farm. For all of her life, Darlene was a caregiver to her family. She loved bowling on the lady's league at Starlite Lanes and won many pins and badges for her skills, but mostly she just enjoyed the sport and the friendships she made. She also loved to play bingo and enjoyed playing gin rummy and pinnacle with her family. She was very creative and loved to crochet. She made many beautifully patterned items that her family will cherish for years to come. She had 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Melanie) Taylor, Blackfoot, Idaho; and Ted (Sara) Taylor, Sprague River, Oregon; 5 grandchildren, Thomas (Melinda) Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Jeremy (Stephanie) Taylor, and Holly (Rob) Miller and her great and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lloyd Van Sickle, Glen Van Sickle, Kenneth Van Sickle and Robert Van Sickle; her sisters, Edna Mc Arthur and Von Hansen; and grandson, Eric Taylor. The family will have a graveside service for her, her husband, and Grandson at a later date.
