Daniel "Dan" Edward Major was born October 19, 1941 in Carlisle, Arkansas. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 2, 2019. Dan was the oldest of four children. His family moved frequently in childhood, and he spent time living in several different states all across the country.
After graduating high school, Dan went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska. He held a major in History with a minor in German. With his education completed, Dan entered the United States Army in January of 1964 and served until July of 1967. Upon exiting the Army, Dan began a career in teaching in Wentzville, MO. There he met his wife of twenty-eight years, and the couple went on to have three children. After leaving the field of teaching, Dan spent the majority of his working years in service management. In retirement, Dan spent many happy hours reading, watching horror movies, following his beloved Rockies baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children Vesta Major, son Paul Major (Kerry), son Christopher Major (Amy), daughter Susan Felts (Joseph), brother Ron Major (Carolyn), sister Joyce Carpenter, sister Jo Anne Ferguson (Harlie), as well as 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dan as preceded in death by his parents, Claude Paris Major and Cora Waunita Elizabeth Dutcher, as well as a nephew Daron Carpenter.
Memorial services will be held at University Bible Church at 4700 N Philbin Rd, Chubbuck ID 83202 on Wednesday, November 6th at 11:00 AM.
