Dan Kenneth Hoffman

POCATELLO-Dan Kenneth Hoffman, 73, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 30, 2011 at a local care center. He lost his battle with A.L.S. and lung cancer. Dan was born in Rupert, Idaho in 1938 to Dan and Martha Leitha Mix. After his service he lived in Texas then moved to California where he met and married his beloved wife Esther in 1962. They had one son Daniel who was born in California. Dan worked for the postal service for three years in California then took a transfer to Pocatello and worked with the Pocatello Post Office for 30 years and retired. Dan could not be retired so he started working for Heinz. He was with them for almost 4 years. Dan loved farm work, always helping his father-in-law and other family members. He loved to spend time with his grandkids. He enjoyed going to all the sports games they played in. He also loved to take them camping and fishing. They loved all the time spent at the cabin in Island Park together.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his beloved wife Esther of 49 years; son, Daniel and wife Cindy of Pocatello, Idaho; grandsons, Justin and wife Collett of Logan, Utah, granddaughters; Kristina, Kimberley, Ashley, and sister Vanessa of Oregon.

Funeral services for Dan will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A viewing will be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, 238-8000.
