Dale Visick Francis

December 15, 1930 — April 16, 2009

POCATELLO " Dale Visick Francis, 78; Chubbuck, ID: passed away Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2009, at the Idaho State Veterans' Home.

Dale was born December 15, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Oswell Samuel Francis and Chloris Elizabeth Visick.

He married Ruby Gertrude Kimball February 8, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dale is known to many as Bishop, to 19 as Grandpa, to 16 & 8/9ths as Great-grandpa; and to 5 he was Dad. He was beloved by all he touched.

Dale had many loves and hobbies, and could often be found at the business end of a fishing pole or a golf club. He loved to tell stories of his travels and we enjoyed his humor. He served the Lord faithfully in many capacities as bishops' counselor, bishop, high councilor, missionary in the Toronto Canada Temple, and spent many years as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was deeply proud to be called a veteran. He flew the flag devotedly at his home every day since 1976.

The family is profoundly moved by the genuine love and devotion given to Dale by the entire staff and residents of the Veterans' Home. He lived there for 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days. Thank you; our gratitude is immeasurable.

The survivors are Dale's sweetheart, Ruby; his children David & Alcidia Francis (San Jose, CA), Sharon Hayes & Gordon Louie (Salt Lake City, UT), Kevin Francis (Temple, TX), Jackie & Michael Stokes (Pocatello, ID), and Will & Melody Francis (Logan, UT). He is also survived by his siblings: Ruth & Dennis Earl (Salt Lake City, UT), Paul & Jo Ann Francis (Diamond Bar, CA), and Vern & Betty Francis (Riverton, UT). He is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Wilfred.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Whitaker 1st Ward LDS Chapel (North Pocatello Stake Center), 4890 Whitaker Road, with Bishop Mark Neider conducting. A viewing will be held from 5-7:00PM, Sunday evening at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road; and from 9-9:45AM prior to the services at the church. A memorial service will be held at 2:30PM, Monday afternoon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, UT, and the interment will immediately follow those services.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, Dale's family requests donations to be sent in his name to the Idaho State Veterans' Home, 1957 Alvin Ricken Drive, Pocatello, ID 83201.
