Dale Henry Knoblich

d. December 19, 2014

Dale Knoblich, 67, passed away in his home surrounded by family, Friday, December 19, 2014. Dale was born July 23, 1947 in American Falls, Idaho. Dale spent his first few years on the family farm in American Falls. His family frequently moved as his dad could follow work in Idaho and many short-term locations in Wyoming. Living arrangements were tight quarters with simple accommodations. His family later settled in Pocatello where Dale graduated from Highland High School in 1965. Following graduation, Dale joined the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. In 1969, after his service in the Air Force, Dale returned to Pocatello, Idaho. He began working at Idaho Power Company where he quickly advanced from the mailroom to a ground man on the line crew. He continued on as a journeyman and he exceled as a lineman and foreman. Idaho Power co-workers became a source of brotherhood for him. He enjoyed that two of his three brothers also worked at the Power Company. The work was tough, but his strength was far beyond what one would expect from a man of his thin stature. Dale retired in 2005 as the Division Operations Supervisor. He was well respected and his German farming roots carried through in his work ethic. Dale was dedicated to get the job done and used his infectious humor to entertain his co-workers. In 1971, he married Patricia Vigliaturo and adopted her two children, Stacie and Joey. He raised them as his own, a testament to his character. They had a daughter, Denise Marie. Later they divorced. In 1986, Dale married Sheralyn (Sherry) Deffinger and combined their families. They spent their marriage enjoying; camping, four wheeling and boating. Dales years were filled with Friday night bowling, frequent trips to Jackpot with special friends. They also loved laughing and story telling over drinks with friends. As an adult, his career afforded him to do as he pleased, but those humble beginnings shaped Dale to be happiest with simple things. Dale grew up hunting and fishing with his dad, uncles and brothers. That tradition carried throughout his adult years. He was proud of his fathers service during WWII and spent hours watching war documentaries. His patriotism compelled him to honor those who have served our country by helping build Pocatellos Veteran Memorial. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy and his dad, Henry Knoblich and the dog he considered a son, Wooly. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Sherry. His three children; Stacie, Joey and Denise. His step-children; Michelle, Brad, Brian. Dale also has 11 grandchildren, Malia, Masina, Maili, Jacob, Zach, Andy, Brittany, Whitney, Tiffany, Sullivan and Breesha. His brothers Cliff, Barry and Troy. As per Dales request, please no flowers. The family would request a written or typed memory of their association with Dale. Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Military Honors will be held promptly at 1pm at Idaho Power Company, 301 E Benton. Immediately followed by an open house of remembrance.
