Dale Donald Zellmer

October 17, 1924 — June 22, 2011

Dale Donald Zellmer, 86, moved on to Heaven peacefully, to be reunited with his wife on June 22, 2011 at Portneuff Medical Center from complications of Heart Decease.

Dale was born October 17th 1924 in Atlantic Iowa to John & Ella Zellmer, he Joined the Army in 1944 and spent 2 years in Japan. He married Laverne Edith Lehnhardt on March 29th, 1954 and moved to Griswold, IA in 1868, where he spent most of his life farming and working construction. Dale loved the outdoors, hunting & fishing. He was very handy & could fix almost anything; he was devoted to his church & faith. Dale moved to Pocatello 3 years ago to be with his son Duane, spend time with his family and help them run the KOA campground in Pocatello, where he lived and enjoyed meeting all the different people that came through. In April he moved to the Idaho State Veterans' Home after he fell ill but continued to help at the KOA, visit with & help other residents of the VA and generally stayed active & busy.

He is preceded in death and now by the side of his beloved wife of forty nine years, five months and five days before she passed away in August of 2003, Laverne Edith (Lehnhardt) Zellmer, his parents John & Ella Zellmer and all 5 of his siblings Alvin, Ervin, Marie Watson, Earl and Herbert.

Dale is survived by his 3 sons, Steven (Lori) Zellmer of Atlantic, IA., Daryell (Kathy) Zellmer of Omaha, NE., Duane (Linda) Zellmer of Pocatello, ID.; daughter-In-Law Linda Manhart of Council Bluffs, IA; nine grandchildren, Amanda Humphrey, of Harlan, IA., Angela & Matt of Atlantic, IA., Mary (Jason) Moeller of Northwood, IA., Katie (Shane) Chase of Hunstville, AL,. Laura & John of Council Bluffs, IA , Tyler & Paige of Pocatello, ID.; five great grandchildren, Hunter, Alyssa, Jason, Gavin & Maggie; two Sister-In-Law's Florance Johnk & Vera (Milton) Mueller of Walnut, IA.; as well as numerous family & friends both in Iowa and in Idaho.

We would like to send a special thank you to the Idaho Veterans' Home, Dr. Willey and most importantly, Randy Vawdrey of Physicians Immediate Care Center who not only cared for Dale's health and welfare but went above & beyond patient care and became a true friend.
