Dahl Lemmon Zohner: Born September 04, 1931 in St. George, Utah to John Henry and Nina Lemmon Zohner. As the oldest of six children (3 boys and 3 girls) he learned responsibility at a young age. Listening to scripture stories from his mother, helped him to love the Gospel and gain a testimony.
At the age of 8, he began helping his Grandfather each summer on his sawmill. Over the years they had sawmills at Orderville, Kiabab National Forest, Orderville Gultch, on the Zion plateau, and on Cable Mountain in Zion. He enjoyed this work with his grandfather and uncles.
At the age of 19 he received a mission call, but had to put that on hold when "Uncle Sam" called him to the Korean conflict in 1952.
He noticed Laverna Alldredge his first Sunday home from Korea, as she gave a 2 ½ minute talk in Sacrament Meeting. They dated somewhat until Dahl again received his mission call to the Texas, San Antonia Spanish American Mission. Laverna waited while he faithfully served for 2 ½ years. Soon after his return, they were married on September 07, 1956 in the St. George, Utah Temple.
After having graduated from Dixie College in 1951, Dahl pursued further education at Utah State Agricultural College in the field of forestry. Two children, Raquel and Stanley, joined the family while in Logan.
Dahl's first assignment after college was as Assistant Ranger in the Ely District of the Humboldt National Forest in Nevada from 1959 to 1961. Two more children, Ninarose and Dalene, were born while in Ely.
In 1961 Dahl received a transfer to Elko, Nevada as District Ranger over the Jarbidge District. The whole family loved the summers in Jarbidge. Two more children, Michael and Dorothy, joined us in Elko.
Another transfer came in 1965 as Ranger over the Moab District of the Manti-LaSal National Forest. Fourteen years we enjoyed this unique area of Utah and welcomed five more children into our family: Wyatt, Rodney, Janalee, Rachel, and Chiara.
During this time, Dahl had many church callings including 5 years as the Bishop. He also had charge of the church orchard in our area. This calling he truly enjoyed and learned much.
In 1979, Dahl was again transferred. This time to the Caribou National Forest in Pocatello, Idaho as the Realty Specialist, a job he enjoyed for many years. This job required his help on many of the forests throughout Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming. He also helped on many forest fires during his career.
Our number twelve child, Lynae was born here in Pocatello and has added much joy to the family.
Dahl has again held many church callings, perhaps the most enjoyable being in the nursery for 2 years.
Dahl has been retired since 2001. He has enjoyed all aspects of his work in the forest service.
Dahl is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Laverna Zohner of Chubbuck, Idaho.
