Curtis Dean Matkin, 47, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 from natural causes. He was born August 6, 1961, in Pocatello, Idaho to Doyle and Evelyn Rieko (Kimura) Matkin. He was raised and educated in Pocatello and graduated from Highland High School in 1980. Curtis had two beautiful daughters, Danielle and Kalani. He worked for Bannock Paving for several years as an operator. He loved water and snow skiing, snow boarding and riding motorcycles. He also loved his dog, Apollo. Curtis was a simple man and very kind hearted. He accepted all people for who they were. He is survived by his daughters, Danielle and Kalani Matkin, Boise, ID, mother, Evelyn Buckowski, Mililani, Hawaii, father, Doyle Matkin, Pocatello and sister, Penny (Bob) Svancara, Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Pat Matkin, uncle, Kayle Matkin and grandmother, Judith Hendrickson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 2005 S. Fourth Ave, Pocatello. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the services. Services will conclude at the chapel.
