On July 7, 2023, Clifta Pauline Adams – better known as Polly – passed away peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho on November 13, 1963, to Garry Clifton Adams and Mary Lee Bocek Adams Hurt as the youngest child in a large family with six kids, three boys and three girls.
Although Polly was born early as an incredibly tiny baby, she erupted into the world with the vitality of a Tasmanian devil and maintained her zeal for life and inner fortitude through every day.
Polly grew up in McCammon and Lava, Idaho, attending both Marsh Valley High School and Pocatello High School. Later in life, she helped lay gas/oil pipelines around the western states where she met her life-long friend, Michael Hiese, who fathered her three remarkable children.
After many adventures, Polly eventually settled in Pocatello, where she received her CNA certification and began working at Quail Ridge Assisted Living. To say Polly was tenacious and vivacious is an understatement. She was a social butterfly who made friends wherever she went and lived her life fearlessly.
Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Garry (Amy) and Mary; brother, Van Adams; niece, Tessa Adams; and spouse, John Sheridan. She is survived by her stepfather, Jonnie Hurt (who she called dad); brothers Garry Adams and K.C. Adams; sisters, Ivalou Adams and Patsy (Rory) Siaperas; son, Justin (Jolene) Bates; daughter, Tristan (Ryan) Olson; daughter, Clarissa (Matt) Walker; and grandchildren, Justice, Aurora, Aaliyah, Tanyon, Nya, Aysha, Taiden, Desta, Rowen, Flynn, and Callum.
With her big brown eyes and a contagious smile, Polly came into the world as a lion and then quietly departed as a lamb. She will leave a void on Earth…but we know, undoubtedly, that she’s leading a grand celebration in Heaven.
