BLACKFOOT - Cliff Benson, 56, of Blackfoot, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012. He was born on March 19, 1956, in Pocatello, to Sam and Shirley Benson. He grew up in Pocatello and attended Franklin Jr High and Pocatello High School, where he met his first wife, Sandy Allison. They had 1 child, Jamie. They were later divorced. Later, he met and married LaDawn Tharp on July 24, 1976. There were 2 children born from this union, Jeff and Joe. They lived on the family farm in Taber, outside of Blackfoot, for 30 years. Cliff was a veteran of the United States Army. Cliff worked at Basic American Foods as a fork lift driver for 23 years before he retired. He loved drag racing, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and being with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife LaDawn Benson of Blackfoot; son Jamie (Tamie) Benson of Blackfoot; son Jeff (Brenda) Benson of Pocatello; son Joe (Amber) Benson of Arimo; daughter Amanda (Jason) Cevering of Blackfoot; father Leland Benson of Pocatello; brother David Benson of Bountiful, UT; sister Sara Williams of Salt Lake City, UT; sister Teresa Benson of Newman Lake, WA; and grandchildren Kurtis, Kevin, Skyler, Bradley, Austin, Breanna, Maggie, and Jace. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Clifford and Clara Benson; grandparents Worley and Sara Brown; mother Shirley Ann Searcy; mother-in-law Carol E. Haggard; and grandparents Mona and Albert Tharp. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.Colonial-FuneralHome.com.
