Claude B Hazen

Claude B Hazen, Jr., 76, of Chubbuck, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2012 at a local hospital following an ongoing illness.

Claude was born April 3, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Claude B Hazen, Sr. and Wilma Melray (Lang) Hazen. He was raised and educated in the Chicago area. Following high school, he continued his education at Chicago Jr. College, University of Illinois, and Ohio State University. He also honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army from March 1956 " March 1958.

Claude married Joan Marilyn Clymer on August 1, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois and they moved to Columbus, Ohio where they lived for 50 years. He and Joan moved to Chubbuck in April of 2009 to be closer to their son. His interests included carving, woodworking, photography, traveling, hiking, camping and ballroom dancing. Claude also served as a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church.

He worked as an Associate Engineer in the developing and manufacturing of telephone equipment for Western Electric and AT&T for over 42 years. He was a 50 year service award recipient from the Boy Scouts of America, where he also received the Silver Beaver Award from the Central Ohio Council. His service to the Boys Scouts included Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Explorer Leader and District Council Chairman.

Claude is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan M. Hazen, Chubbuck, Idaho; son, Dean S. (Teresa) Hazen, Chubbuck, Idaho; and two sisters, Nancy (Richard) Coxon, Crossville, Tennessee; and Barbara (Herb) Cotter, Weston, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Claude was dearly loved by his extended Clymer family in Indiana, Illinois and North Carolina; sisters, Agnes Carney, Irene (Bob) Stringer, and Betty (Bill) Robison; and brothers Floyd (Janice), Kenny, Ron (Patty), John, and Robert.
