Christine Pooengerah, 56, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. She was born on June 7, 1962 to Charles Pooengerah and Rita Ponzo. Christine was a lifetime resident of Fort Hall, ID. She attended Tyhee Elementary and Hawthorne Middle School. In 1989, she married Darrell Archuleta and together they had a daughter, Rita. They later divorced but remained life companions. Christine was a wildland firefighter for 5 years then relocated to the Fort Hall Casino for 16 years working in various departments. She was a member of the Native American Church. Christine enjoyed traveling, cruising site seeing and beading. She loved to be around, raising and helping her family, with all their children. Christine is survived by her lifelong companion, Darrell Archuleta, Fort Hall; daughter, Rita Archuleta, Fort Hall; step-daughters, Janna Archuleta and Jovette Archuleta, both of Fort Hall; grandsons, Cain Quagigant and Gunner Quagigant, both of Fort Hall; sister, Sevina R. Pooengerah, Pocatello; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rita Ponzo Tissidimit and Charles Pooengerah; grandparents, Harry P. Pooengerah and Dolly Ponzo Hanatise; brothers, Herman Tissidimit, Marvin Ponzo Tissidimit, Telford Pooengerah; sisters, Patsy Pooengerah, Flora Pooengerah, also one little sister, "baby girl"; and nephews, Byron Tissidimit and Flint Humble. Visitation will be held at the Ballard residence, 332 N. Rio Vista Rd. Pocatello, from 1 pm Friday, March 29 until 2 pm Monday, April 1. Christine will then be taken to the Cedars Cemetery for traditional Native burial.
