Chikako Sanders, 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from natural causes. Once upon a time on a faraway island, an angel was dispatched to Earth. Her assignment from God was to spread as much peace, joy, love, and happiness as possible to everyone she came into contact with. However, there was one caveat. In order to receive her angel wings God told her she must first find one person whose life she could change forever. One person, who without her guidance would stray, struggle, and possibly never live up to their potential. Only God and the angel understood why I was the chosen one. Out of all the billions of humans on this planet, she assumed the almost impossible task of transforming a self-centered, narcissistic, "hippy" musician into a decent, loving and caring father, companion, friend and contributing member of society. As a young angel, it had to be excruciatingly difficult for her. How could someone so perfect understand and tolerate someone so imperfect? The truth is, even after 46 years, her job was far from complete. But as a reward for her hard work and dedication, God gave her two perfect children - Shon, her Samurai son, and Michaela, her precious Japanese princess. They, in turn, blessed her with 5 little angels; the first being Kade, followed by Akio, Charlie, Takeo, and the tiniest angel, Maggie. I would be remiss if I didnt mention the other loves of her life, Misti, Shons extraordinary wife and angel; Frankie, Michaelas husband and angel assignment, who I should say is much farther along than I was at his age; and Aunt Patti, my sister and the one who may have loved Chikako most because she needed her the most. All in all, Chikako finished every project God had given her but me. Im not sure there was enough time in the universe to accomplish that. Taking that into consideration, God in all His wisdom gave Chikako her angel wings anywayIm sure so that she might forever guide my life from Heaven, where I know she is and has been given a very special place, for having to put up with me for all those years. Chikako was without a doubt a fairytale come true; just ask anyone she came into contact with. If your life wasnt changed forever for having known her, then its because you didnt have the capacity to love deeply and give of yourself unconditionally. Theres a wonderful truth about angels; they never really leave you. They watch over you for eternity. So it is with great joy that I can say, "My angel and I will live happily ever after." Thank you, God, for the joy and the pain, for without the pain I couldnt possibly know how blessed I really was. I have loved as deeply as any human can love and, in turn, been loved with that special love only an angel has to give. Always, Mike A memorial service for Chikako will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1350 Baldy Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
