Cherie Rymer

January 28, 1959 — March 24, 2015

Cherie Ann Rymer, age 56, of Pocatello passed away suddenly on March 24, 2015 while on a cruise in Mexico in the arms of her husband.

Cherie was born January 28, 1959 in Pocatello, ID to Egon and Gwyneth Jensen. She was the fourth of four children. She grew up in Pocatello and graduated valedictorian from Pocatello High School in 1977. Cherie received her Bachelor of Arts in French and German with a Secondary Education teaching certificate in 1982. During her college years, she studied as a Rotary Foundation Undergraduate Scholar in Saarbruecken, Germany.

While in high school, Cherie met Daniel Rymer who became her soul mate, and they married on May 30, 1981 and were coming close to celebrating 34 years of marriage. In 1982, Cherie and Dan moved to St. George, UT where she spent most of her time teaching French at Dixie High School and raising her two children, Danielle and Jacob. After a brief move to Meridian, ID, the Rymer family moved back to Pocatello in 1997, and Cherie became a French, German, and English teacher at American Falls High School where she taught until her passing. During her years at AFHS, she organized many different student exchanges with a high school in Straubing, Germany. She also led two other student trips to Europe.

Cherie loved to travel, read, cook, go walking and spend time with family. She always insisted on spending as much time as possible with her grandson, Jaxon. She was dedicated to sharing her love of languages and cultures with her students and her family.

Preceding Cherie in death are her parents, Egon and Gwyneth Jensen. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Rymer, of Pocatello; daughter, Danielle (and Darren) Cooley and grandson Jaxon, of Pocatello; son, Jacob (and Brittany) Rymer; sister, Diane Pierce, of Idaho Falls; Brother Timothy (and Kelli) Jensen, of Butte, MT; and Ronald (and Karen) Jensen of Pocatello.
