With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Charlotte Hutchinson, Aberdeen, ID on April 01, 2025.
The youngest of six children, she was born on February 26, 1929 in Stoney Brook Township, Grant County Minnesota to Oscar Thompson and Caroline (Vigen) Thompson. She grew up on a farm there where she milked cows and caught sheaves of barley and wheat tossed up on the trailer heading over to the thresher.
She married Paul Jerome Hutchinson October 25, 1952 in Minnesota and lived in Fargo and West Fargo, ND until moving with Paul and children to Story City, IA in 1967. In 2002, she moved to Aberdeen, ID where she lived until her passing.
Charlotte enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, and her daughters’ cats and dogs. She collected tea pots, End of the Trail art, ceramic and glass birds, and cardinal bird pictures.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters and son, Pamela Jo Salaiz Hutchinson, Aberdeen ID, Cheryl Ellis, Nevada, IA, and Allen Anderson, Greenbush, MN; Grandsons Adam Ellis, Des Moines, IA, Shane Ellis, Ames, IA, and Karl Anderson, Bemidji, MN; Granddaughter, Kelli Flaherty, and 2 great-grandchildren, Mason City, IA; Son- and daughter-in-law Thomas Salaiz, Aberdeen, ID, and Susan Anderson, Greenbush, MN; as well as her brother- and sisters-in-law, Harold Tveit, Sonia Midgarden, and Jane Tveit in ND, and many nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jerome Hutchinson; son, Lyle E. Hutchinson; daughter, Julie A. Hutchinson; son-in-law Jeff Ellis; brother, Phillip Thompson; and sisters, Myrtle Rund, Esther Wagner, Helen Weigand, and LuEtta Bordson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Petri Lutheran Church, 804 Grand Avenue in Story City, IA, with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service. Click here to access the live stream of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations honoring Charlotte, to be made to the Aberdeen, ID Food Bank, 1875 South 2600 West Aberdeen, Idaho 83210.
A Celebration of Life in Aberdeen, ID will be announced.
