Charles Edwin Perkins

March 27, 1949 — November 2, 2015

Charles Edwin Perkins VI, 66, passed away on Monday November 2nd at Portneuf Medical Center from continued heart complications. Charles was born on March 27, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho to Charles and Mary Jo Perkins.

In 1967, he graduated from Highland High School and a year later in 1968, he joined The United States Navy. He served two tours in Vietnam. After returning to the states, while working for AMI and BE, he graduated from Idaho State University as a Journeyman Electrician. Following his graduation in 1973, He married Sharon Bohney (Perkins) and adopted her two sons, Jeff and Kevin Perkins. They later had a daughter, Brandi (Zahn). During this time, he began working for the Union Pacific Railroad and in 1983, he opened and operated D & C Canvas. Charley continued to work at D & C Canvas and Union Pacific Railroad until 2011, when he retired from the railroad following 30 years of service.

In 2000, Charley met his best friend, Raylene Perkins. They were soon married in 2003. They enjoyed many great years together.

Charley was very active over the years. Growing up, he was an Eagle Scout and an Alter Boy at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He also taught Hunters Safety courses with his father and sister. He was one of the original founders of the Pocatello Slowpitch Softball Association. He took great interest in hunting, fishing, camping, softball and drinking beer. He loved being surrounded by his friends and family.

Together, Charley and Raylene had ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife, Raylene Perkins; his children, Brandi (Guy) Zahn, Jeff (Kimberly) Perkins, Kevin (Jenni) Perkins, Leslie Packer Lucero and Jodi Packer Lane; his sister, Mary Jo Pratt; niece, Tawna Workman; and long-time friend, Sharon Perkins.

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Charles Edwin Perkins V, mother, Mary Jo Perkins, six aunts and uncles, his grandparents, multiple cousins and several friends.

The family would like to thank all of the friends and family for their warm thoughts and kindness.

Charley was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. Lunch will be provided following the services. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
