Charles "Ed" Mcghee

March 30, 1935 — November 8, 2020

Charles Edward McGhee (Ed), age 85 passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Sunday November 8, 2020.

Ed was born on March 30, 1935 in Wood, South Dakota to Walter McGhee and Ida Nebola. They moved to Gooding, Idaho when Ed was just a young boy. This is where he met the love of his life Dorothy Jean Hunter. They married March 1, 1952. After, they married, Ed got a job working for the Union Pacific Railroad and they moved to Pocatello, Idaho. They had 4 children together, Bobby, Patty, Christy and Deb.

Ed and Dot resided in Pocatello their entire 67 years of marriage. Ed retired from the railroad after 47 years of employment and began raising beef for his family and friends.

Ed and Dot lived a great and happy life together. Ed loved his family. He worked hard to ensure that they were well taken care of and provided for. There were times that Ed would work more than just the one job at the railroad. He also drove truck for Golob Oil out of Pocatello and loved to tell stories about his trips.

Ed enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, snow machining, boating, but especially spending time with his family and friends. Ed enjoyed fishing and camping at Seagull Bay in American Falls. He also took the family on several camping trips to Palisades and Island Park. Ed loved the outdoors and always taught his children and grandchildren to love it as well.

In his earlier years, he coached his granddaughter's basketball team and played baseball for the UPRR team. During, his time at the railroad he served on the Board of Directors at the Union Pacific Railroad Credit Union.

Ed is survived by his daughters Patty Colvin (Pocatello, Id), Deb Hensley (Pocatello, Id), Granddaughters Nikki (Roger) Frey (Pocatello, Id), Kasey Colvin (Pocatello, Id), Bradee (Donnie) Bagwell (Gillette, WY), Jodi McGhee Miller (Pocatello, Id), Tori Hensley (Pocatello, Id), and grandsons Blake Christensen (Kemmerer, WY) and Tyler Hensley (Pocatello, Id). Ed also has 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy J. McGhee, his son Robert L. McGhee, his daughter Christy McGhee, grandson Ryan McGhee, his parents and his brothers and sisters.

The family would like to give a great big Thanks to Elegant Living in Pocatello, and Home Hospice & Encompass for taking such amazing care of Ed and making him feel comfortable, and loved.

He will be greatly missed by us all.

The family asks that if you are planning to attend the service for Ed to please practice social distancing and to please wear a mask. We care for you all and want to ensure everyone's safety during this sad time. Thank you.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 for family only. A webcast of the service will be available at www.wilksfuneralhome.com beginning at 12:45 p.m. the day of the service.
