Charles "Charlie" R. Bloom

Charlie Bloom passed away on June 8th, 2013 in the comfort of his home with family, due to complications of fighting esophageal cancer.
Charlie was born to Herman Raymond Bloom and Esther Schugart on April 3rd, 1944 in Lewiston, ID. He attended elementary and secondary school in Lewiston, Idaho graduating Lewiston High School in 1962 and then relocating to Pocatello, ID in 1973.
Charlie achieved Eagle Scout in 1960 at the age of 16. Charlie married Janice Lynette Daily on June, 8th, 1972 and had one child, Cody Raymond Bloom. Charlie and Janice recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Charlie was employed at Simplot in May 1973 as a Sulfur Unloader and then as an Insulator for the plant until retiring in June of 2003.
Charlie was a longstanding member of the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union and also served in the capacity of a steward for several years. Within the Union and the company Charlie had many good friends that he worked with.
Charlie enjoyed camping, fishing, (especially in Montana), riding his motorcycle, swimming at the Community Rec Center, spoiling his cat (Baby), and spending time with his family and friends. As Charlie's friends and family all know he was an exceptional husband, father and friend.
Charlie's parting will leave a hole in the hearts of many. Charlie will be greatly missed by his wife, Janice Bloom and also his four children: Chuck (Brenda) Bloom, Wheatland WY; Kevin (Jan) Bloom, Spearfish, SD; Dan Bloom, Douglas, WY; Cody (Katrina) Bloom, Pocatello, ID, As well as his four grandchildren Charley Ray Bloom, Kaylee Jade Bloom, Jonathan David Bloom and Elyse Marie Bloom. Charlie will also be missed by his other relatives and friends.
Charlie's ashes will be taken, by his family, to Montana where he enjoyed so many good times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Raymond Bloom and Esther (Schugart) Bloom, as well as his Aunt Mary Schugart.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Friends of Pocatello Animal Shelter (Cats), in the name of Charlie Bloom.
The Bloom family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Michael Calahan and Dr. Michael Fransisco and the medical staff of the Portneuf Cancer Center for their loving and compassionate care of Charlie.
