With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Celestine E. Sherrod. She passed on Friday, October 9, 2020 in the presence of her three children.
Celestine was born on January 19, 1958 in Butte, Montana to Hayward and Louise Evans. She spent a majority of her life in Pocatello, Idaho attending Bonneville Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and Pocatello Senior High School. While visiting family in Alabama, she met her husband, Joseph Sherrod, with whom she would have three children.
Celestine was able to provide for her family by working at AMI Semiconductor for nearly 30 years. While working in the AMI facility, she was able to develop and form long lasting friendships with a multitude of individuals whom she would often speak of in high regards. Celestine would spend her final years of employment working for Allstate Insurance where she would be routinely recognized for her performance and customer service.
Celestine was devoted to her pets. She adored her dog Rufus. While raising her children she would often enjoy taking them for long rides around Scout Mountain and listening to music. She would often try to expose her children to as many new perspectives as possible and was extremely supportive in whatever they would pursue. Celestine had a passion for the arts, music, singing, and painting. Her passion was expression regardless of the method or medium.
Family was among one of the most important things to Celestine. Despite battling cancer for six years, she would ensure that the needs of her family came first.
Celestine is survived by her mother, Louise Evans; her three loving children, Nicole Sherrod, Abram Sherrod, and Christopher Sherrod; siblings, Jimmie Smith, Margaret Evans, Lavonna Shelton, Hayward Evans, Hazel Evans and Henry Evans; grandchildren, Tyson Sherrod, Steven Sherrod, and Alexander Sherrod. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by Joseph Sherrod and father, Hayward Evans.
