Cecil Evan Wride

Cecil "Evan" Wride, 78, of Aberdeen, Idaho, peacefully, passed away at his home November 21, 2014 from Diabetes. Evan was born on December 3, 1935, at his home, in Aberdeen, Idaho to Marion "Bush" Wride and Helen Taggart Wride. He was the second of eight children. At an early age Evan learned the value of hard work. Working in the family business and for other businesses in Aberdeen. These experiences influenced him his whole life At Aberdeen High School Evan was involved in drama, music, debate and football. He was also a very snazzy dresser, thanks to his mothers excellent starching and ironing skills. Evan loved to learn. As he became older he always had a book with him. He knew he wanted to attend college, but realized that the only way he could achieve this goal was to enlist in the military and work toward the GI Bill. After graduating from AHS, at 17, he joined the US Navy. Evan loved his time in the Navy. He served two years in Japan and a year on the aircraft carrier the USS Wasp. Evan reached his goal and graduated from Idaho State College, in 1961, with a duel degree in Accounting and Economics. During this college time he met and married Jeanne Larsen of Blackfoot Idaho, in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 17, 1959. After graduation Evan went to work at the site as an accountant. Six months later he received a call from the Intelligence Division, Internal Revenue Service regarding a job interview he had with them the year before. Evan accepted their offer. He then started many months of training in San Francisco and Washington DC. Evans family had now grown to three children. Michelle, Eric and Amy His first assignment, after completing training, was in Sacramento California. He lived the life of a G-man. Booky raids, surveillance, undercover work and other things he could not discuss. Evan loved his job. During his career he was able to serve on the directors staff of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington D.C. His duties required traveling to foreign countries and working on special assignments. Evans job was never boring. However the job required his family to move frequently to a number of big cities. This was always an adventure of learning about the cities and the different cultures. Evans family had now expanded with three more children, Nikki, Paul and Stuart. Evan was a devoted, caring father and husband. He loved each little baby that came into the family. He enjoyed sitting in the rocking chair, in the middle of the night, rocking a little child. Evans biggest fear and concern was he could not take care of his family. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many positions. He loved teaching and studying scriptures. His scriptures were always near. Evan was a very generous man. Many people have received money in a blank envelope, a new warm coat on their doorstep, or a food box with everything for a Thanksgiving dinner. "This is Evan". The gifts were not only for strangers but for his siblings. After 20 years with the IRS Evan changed careers, which required him to travel. He could say he had been around the world. His new career required his family live in England, which became one of the high lights of Evans career. After such a great adventure, Evan decided he wanted to move back to his family home and his roots in Aberdeen, Idaho. There he could ride his motorcycle exploring the desert, or sit by the lake with a good book, and relive childhood memories. Aberdeen was the familys 30th move. When Jeanne and he were settled Evan announced his next move would be the Aberdeen Cemetery. Evan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne. Their children Michelle Brewster (Bob) Aberdeen, ID, Eric , Aberdeen, ID, Amy Service (Lance) Salt Lake City UT, Nikki , Mesa, AZ, Paul, Aberdeen, ID, Stuart, Victor, ID. There are 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in-law Boyce Larsen and mother in-law Lois Rasmussen Marley. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon at the Aberdeen LDS 2nd ward chapel, located at 149 West Central Street, Aberdeen, Idaho 83210 on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at the Aberdeen Cemetery with military rights.
