Carrie Chandler, 53, passed away on January 31, 2023.
Carrie was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Tom and Karen Nield. She is the second oldest of nine children. At age fourteen she was elated to finally have a sister amidst all the boys! Carrie was raised in Chubbuck, Idaho, and graduated from Highland High School in 1987. She attended Ricks College and was one semester short of finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at ISU. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Porto, Portugal mission.
After marrying Rodney Chandler in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple in 1993, she lived in Washington state where she became a foster mother. She continued fostering after relocating to Idaho. She blessed the lives of 62 children ages birth to 18 over 13.5 years. She loved her kids!
Carrie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, making jewelry, and other crafts. She always loved animals, and especially liked feeding ducks, and going on trips to the zoo and aquariums. She had many collections, including frogs, hinged jewelry boxes, and Pez candy dispensers, but her favorite was Christmas Nativities. She always kept at least one Nativity out year round.
Muscular dystrophy struck her in her late twenties and progressively worsened over time. She died due to complications of the muscular dystrophy. She is preceded in death by her brothers; Joshua Nield, Eric Nield, Tyler Nield, and Bryan Nield.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Chandler; her parents Tom and Karen Nield; sisters in law Nancy Nield, Tonya Nield, and Amy Nield; brothers, Chris (Dayna) Nield, Benjamin Nield, Troy (Lacey) Nield, and her sister Abby Nield (Travis) Hull.
Please make donations to the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) in her honor.
