Carol Hull

Carol Louise Hull passed away January 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was 66. Carol was born to American serviceman, David Leroy Ticknor Jr, and his new Japanese wife, Yoshiko Ticknor, on March 17th, 1957, in Yokosuka, Japan. Carol was very proud of her Japanese citizenship. It set her apart from her siblings who were all born in the United States. After finishing his military obligation, David and his new family returned to the US. After short stays in Kanas City, MO and Twin Falls, ID, the family ended up in their forever home of Pocatello, ID. Being of mixed descent, Carol experienced a bi-cultural childhood. The family participated in numerous JACL (Japanese American Citizen League) events and fundraisers. Carol embraced her Japanese heritage, and many life-long friendships were created from the events.

Carol had success in almost everything she tried. She excelled in school and activities. She was always musical and played the piano and the flute. She was also a member of the Poky High School marching band. Carol was very proud of her shooting skills and became a marksman while participating in NRA small-bore target shooting. Her father was the instructor at the Pocatello Rifle Club on 1st and Putnam, so she received the best of training. Carol was a person of many skills; she also enjoyed speech and debate. Linda Hiroto and Carol went undefeated in the regional debate tournament in 1974 to help Poky win regional.

Carol was always comfortable around others and made friends easily. Her jobs at Fred Meyers, Mountain Bell and AMIS used this social skill and helped to make her successful.

Carol attended ISU and was a senior in Engineering when she broke her back and had to retire from work. After Carol retired, she started doing crafts at home; she made many soaps and knitting items. She also loved to cook, garden, and bottle fruit and vegetables. Carol was a respected worker, but her biggest success was raising four outstanding children.

She married Richard Moldenhauer in 1975. They had two sons: Andy and Ben. Carol and Dick divorced and in 1982, Carol met the love of her life, Jeff Hull. They were married on July 5th, 1983. They had 2 additional children, Nicolas, and Stefanie. In 1985, they settled in Inkom where the family of 6 became a family in a house they called home! Carol and Jeff were happily married for 40 years.

God has always been in Carol’s heart. As a young girl, she attended church in Pocatello with her parents and siblings at the Central Christian Church. When the family moved to Inkom, she became a member of the LDS church. Though she did not attend services as often as she would like, she was always praying and studying the gospel while expressing her questions and desires.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Yoshiko, her father, David Leroy Jr, and a brother Barry.

She is survived by her husband Jeff, her faithful fur baby Mac, her brother Jeff (Jana) Ticknor, her sister Becky Ticknor, sons Andy (Allysa) Moldenhauer, Ben Moldenhauer, Nicolas (Billie) Hull and daughter Stefanie (Jake) Nisson as well as 9 grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Wilks Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho. Services will be Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11 am at the Inkom LDS church, 801 N. Rapid Creek Rd. Inkom, Idaho, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at the Inkom Cemetery.
