Carma Stephens Saunders returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven March 19, 2015.
Carma was born June 19, 1928 in Bennington, Idaho to George E. and Ruth Emma (Ipsen) Stephens. She was the sixth of seven children, and her mother was 42 when Carma was born. Her early years were spent in the fields with her father and brothers. She loved to dance more than anything, and she was a great shot with a rifle
Carma attended grade school in Bennington and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1946. She moved to Clearfield, Utah to work. She worked for a time at Leah's Beauty School. She then spent the rest of her career in the credit industry at Pocatello Credit Bureau, Idaho Central Credit Union, and First Security Bank.
Carma married HV Saunders on December 26, 1955. With this marriage came two sons she loved as her own. A daughter was later born to this union. Their marriage was later solemnized in the SLC Temple on September 25, 1964.
Carma is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, HV Saunders; sons, Bill (Bev) Saunders; Allen (Claudine) Saunders; daughter, Debra (Jim) Stewart; a brother, Ralph (DeAne) Stephens; ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces.
Carma was preceded in death by her brothers, Don and Ray; and sisters, Georgia, Arlene, and Nina.
Carma had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel like they were the most special person in the whole world. She will be dearly missed and her love will live on in the hearts of all she influenced.
Carma's family would like to thank the many health care workers who have cared for her over the years, especially the wound center, her nurse Catie, Dr. Gregson, Sr. Shields, and Quinn Meadows. We are eternally grateful to our forever friend and hospice nurse, Jeralyn Herron Hamblin and Dr. Mills at Heritage Hospice. Barbara Minor, niece who spent many hours making Mother's wardrobe and to assist any request Carma may have had. Also, to Chubbuck 7th Ward, Bishop Cameron Brower, Relief Society President Sherry Van Everly, her home teachers, Brian Muir and Jerry Parris, and her special neighbors, Freeman's, Scott's, and Judy Morris.
Funeral services for Carma will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, with Bishop Cameron Brower conducting. A viewing will be held from 7-9pm Friday evening and for one hour prior to the services, both at the funeral home. Her interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
