Carma Black Sant, age 78, passed away September 8, 2020 at her home in Pocatello, ID. She was born November 21, 1941 in Logan, Utah to Clyde Charles and Reta Nelson Black. She was the second oldest of 10 children. Her early years were spent on a dry farm in Juniper, Idaho which had no electricity, or indoor plumbing. Because there was no school in Juniper, she attended a two-room schoolhouse in Snowville, UT where her parents purchased a home so the children could attend school. The two-room schoolhouse was right behind their home. They lived in Snowville during the school year and moved back to Juniper during the summer.
In Juniper, she would ride the horse out to the field, work all day, and then ride home at the end of the day.
As a child she contracted rheumatic fever and was very ill for almost a year and nearly died.
When she was old enough to go to middle school, the family moved to Logan, UT and bought a home at 331 S 3rd W.
She married William "Bill" LaVar Sant, June 14, 1958 in Logan, UT and their marriage was later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Idaho Falls temple. They had 4 children, Jody Hepworth (Ron) Inkom, ID; Judy Noorda-Hill (Jeff) Nampa, ID; Jacqueline Gilpin (John) Pocatello, ID; and James William Sant (Janet) Pocatello, ID.
Bill and Carma worked for his uncle and learned the Roto Rooter business and then purchased it from his uncle in 1961. Carma raised the children and ran the office out of their home while Bill ran the day to day operations. The business was always an integral part of the familys lives. They ran the business together until Bills death in 2005 then Carma continued running the business until she sold it in 2016.
Carma was always active in church and in serving others and is known by many for her love, kindness, and generosity.
She is survived by her 4 children; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 8 siblings.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law; one granddaughter, one great-grandson; and a brother.
