Cameron Cordell Green

Cameron Cordell Green, age 73, died of natural causes November 16, 2009, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello. Cam moved from Cocolalla, Idaho, to the Veterans Home in April 2008.

Cam was born November 15, 1936, in Spearfish, South Dakota to parents George H. and Christine (Speh) Green. Cam grew up in Spearfish, in the northern Black Hills, where he became a fine hunter and trout fisherman. He graduated in 1955 from Spearfish High School and was married in Los Angeles, California, to his classmate Donna Anderson on January 28, 1956.

He served in the United States Navy, 1955-1960, with the Seabees' Mobile Construction Battalions in the Pacific, MCB-5 on Guam and MCB-10 in the Philippines. Following his discharge from the Navy, employment with Frank Kalka Construction Company took Cam and his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a year; they returned to Spearfish where he worked with Safeway Grocers as Produce Manager, 1960-1966; then with Federal Aviation Agency to Great Falls, Montana, as Radar Site Maintenance Mechanic, 1966-1970, and to the Panama Canal Zone as Radar Site Maintenance Mechanic and Family Housing Maintenance Supervisor, 1970-1980. He retired from federal service in 1980.

Cam held fond memories of close friendship with many of his high school classmates and fellow workers. Although divorced in 1981, Cam and Donna shared love for their four sons and families. Survivors include sons Kirk and Deanna (Bower) in Idaho Falls, Idaho; Cory and Alma (Rodriguez) in Fairfax, Virginia; Clint and Jeaneé (Sabal) in Page, Arizona; Kris and Casey (Solomon) in Evanston, Illinois; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are his wife Dotti at the Idaho State Veterans Home, and his sister LaDonna Workman and her son Manley in Maryland. Cam was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Joy (Meeks) in Cocolalla; his mother in Elkpoint, South Dakota; his father and step-mother Mary (Sabal) in Haleiwa, Hawaii.

Cameron's family would like to give our thanks to the nurses, staff, and residents of the Pocatello Veterans Home for the exceptional care and friendship they provided him the past eighteen months. Our special thanks to Dotti for the love and companionship she shared with Cam during their time together; he will miss you.

A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for December 16, 2009 at the Idaho State Veterans Home, 1957 Alvin Ricken Drive, more definitive information will appear closer to the service date. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road.
