Calvin E. Munn

Calvin Earl Munn “Sonny “passed away at Portneuf Regional Medical Center on Tuesday May 28th 2013 at the age of 78. Calvin is predeceased by his Father Calvin A. Munn, Grandson Christopher Lee Cook. Calvin is survived by his wife Jean Munn of 58 years. They were married in Pocatello, Idaho September 9th 1954. Calvin is lovingly remembered by his Mother Wilma Munn Pocatello, daughters Billie Jean Bauer, Boise, Idaho, Karen Gallegos Pocatello, Joyce Lynn Buttars of Preston, Idaho and Christine Stone of Pocatello, brothers Bill Munn Las Cruces, New Mexico and David Munn Pocatello. Calvin and Jean were blessed with 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Calvin was born in Pocatello, Idaho in March of 1935 he graduated from Pocatello, High School in 1953.He worked as Maintenance Man at JR Simplot's for 32 years. Calvin served in the National Guard for over 27 years. We have been blessed to know Sonny, he has been a cattleman, a boxer, and race car driver, military man, a mountain man, carpenter, welder, mechanic, an avid traveler. And he dedicated time to Louisiana for Hurricane Relief. He is a son, brother, husband, father and grandpa and a friend of many. “You earned your wings on May 28th 2013” we know with a resume and a heart as big as yours, that your Lord has a special plan for you. We will miss all the whisker burns.

A viewing will be held at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Rd Chubbuck, Idaho on Sunday June 2nd from 5-7 PM, and another on Monday June 3rd 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. His funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at Calvin and Jean place of worship Christ Church 1245 North Arthur Pocatello, Idaho, with Reverend Stephen Yadon officiating. The interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery 1520 South 5th Avenue Pocatello, Idaho in Section 6East with Military Rites provided by Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
