Byron passed away peacefully in Boise, Idaho following a brief illness and having a broken heart due to the passing of his beloved wife Nancy in 2016.
Byron was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on January 28th, 1939 to Glenn James McBride and Gladys Faye Mellonie. Byron lost his father when he was about 17 months old from a sudden illness. In 1946, Gladys married Henry Clay Tipton and to that union Byron gained a sister, Mellonie Tipton (Holmes) and a brother William Clay Tipton.
Byron attended school in Pocatello for much of his life, graduating from Pocatello High School (the best school in town) and went on to do vocational schooling at Idaho State University.
Byron met the love of his life at the A&W Rootbeer stand in Pocatello where she was working, and he was hanging with his boys. Nancy pursued Byron but he didn't put up much of a fight and they were married on August 10th, 1962. Byron and Nancy were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 21, 1975.
Byron had a passion for cars and trucks and owned many over his life. He was most proud of his 1956 Ford that he was restoring at the time of his passing. Our family spent many years working at Drag City Raceway where Byron met many great people he would call his friends. Byron enjoyed spending time with his family camping in Island Park and would oftentimes spend hours on a motorcycle just putting around the plentiful trails all around the area. We would spend time in his boat fishing or crying depending on how early he wanted to go out on the water.
Byron and Nancy were proud parents to five children; Kelley (Melissa), Mike (Rosie), JoDee (Tom Kirkman), Brett (Lisa), and Aaron (Amanda). He was a proud and loving Grandpa to 8 grandchildren,Lars McBride, Lyndsey, KaDee, Isabella, and Sarah Kirkman, Kye, Nate, and Ali McBride, Violet McBride and was met by his soon to be 9th grandchild, Atticus McBride. His grandchildren brought him much joy over the years as he attended school programs and sporting events for each of them.
Byron worked at FMC for well over 20 years and upon the closing of FMC, went back to school in Auto Body at ISU. He loved working with the young people in the program so much that he worked there for 10 years before retiring to take care of Nancy who was later diagnosed with cancer. Byron stood by her side from hospital to cancer centers all in hopes that her treatment would work so they could spend many years enjoying their family. They were inseparable until her passing on December 7, 2016. Byron has never been the same since she passed, and we could see and feel his pain in being alone without her. So on March 13th, at 6:45 a.m. he left this earth to join her in heaven along with those that passed before him.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents and step father, Sister Mellonie, Brother Bill, Son Michael, and Wife Nancy and many good friends. Although he'll be missed, we cherish the reunion he is having with Mom and others that passed before him. We love you Dad - may you rest in peace.
