"Bud" Ellis

Ernest LaRoy "Bud" Ellis, Jr., 92, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Idaho State Veterans Home. He was born on December 31, 1927 in Pocatello, Idaho to Ernest LaRoy, Sr. and Alice Mae Ellis. Bud spent the majority of his life in Pocatello, where he attended, and graduated from, Pocatello High School. Following high school Bud joined the Army in August of 1946 with the rating of a mechanic, he served for 2 years. On August 6, 1950, Bud married his high school, sweetheart, Mary Artella Cook. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Bud was employed as a diesel mechanic and foreman by Garrett Freightlines for 41 years; and, by Idaho State University as a motor pool mechanic for several years, following his retirement from Garretts. Buds many interests included camping, hunting, fishing, photography, gardening, and assembling model cars and airplanes. Bud was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings. Bud and Mary are the parents of 6 children; Susan Ellis, Michael (Barbara) Ellis, Marshall (Tonia) Ellis, Marylu (Kirk) Irick, John (Gina) Ellis, and Malinda Ellis. He was preceded in death by Mary in 2014 and daughter, Malinda in 1968. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Buds funeral services will be on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 11 am also at Colonial Funeral Home with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
