Bret D. Shappart, 64, lifelong resident of Pocatello passed away September 16, 2022. He was the 3rd child of 4 children. Bret was born August 15, 1958 to Darel Levis Shappart and Della Roylene Nelson. Bret attended school in Pocatello. After his 11th year in high school Bret went to work of the Union Pacific Railroad. He finished his education by getting his GED. Bret married his first wife Liz Christensen and had three children Darlene, Brandon, and JD. They were later divorced.
Bret worked as a manager, supervisor, and technician in several areas of maintenance. In addition to working for the Railroad, he worked for School Dist. 25, Bannock Regional, Portneuf Medical Center and had two of his own contracting businesses.
Bret met the love of his life Krystal Conn and they have spent the last ten years of his life camping, fishing, and ATV riding creating memories with family and friends. Bret loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time at his 2nd home on the Blackfoot Reservoir. Bret’s greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was very educated in so many ways. Even when he fell ill, it never stopped him from all of his on going projects. He always kept himself busy until the very end. Bret fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.
We are proud to call him our HUSBAND, FATHER, PAPA, SON, and BEST FRIEND. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.
