In the early morning of a twilight harvest moon our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Bonnie Jean Mecham left this life with grace and dignity, in her home surrounded by family who loved and cherished her.
Bonnie was the second child born to Jo and Helen Baker on a cold Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1951. Her parents called her ‘their little bomb shell'. Her sister Linda Hillman welcomed her to the family and began their long loving journey as sisters by birth, friends by choice.
Bonnie was born and raised in Pocatello where she received all her elementary education and then graduated from Highland High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout Bonnie's life she had worked hard and diligently in various occupations. Before retiring in 2008 Bonnie had been working at ISU in the cashier office. A position she held for over 15 years. She enjoyed her work and established strong friendships with many of her co-workers.
Bonnie dedicated her life to her sons, Cody and Shane. She was a generous and wonderful mother. She was her grandchildren's best friend and spent countless hours showing her love for them. She shared her creative talents and skills with those she loved and our homes are filled with many of her beautiful creations.
Bonnie loved to laugh and had a unique sense of humor. She loved to have fun and enjoy life. She was even known to take the occasional bungee jump when dared. She made friends easily and enjoyed her times with the girls in Island Park. All who knew her will certainly miss her.
Bonnie enjoyed her home and yard by spending countless hours doing what she loved. Her yard was her pride and joy. Bonnie also enjoyed camping with her boys and their families. Her favorite camping area was along the river at Mack's Inn, in Island Park. She was well known for her immaculate campsite and delicious cuisine. Her love of the outdoors with her family was on of the highlights of her life.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jo and Helen Baker (Stevens). Bonnie is survived by her sons, Richard Cody Jones (Brennen) and Michael Shane Mecham (Stephanie) and her six grandchildren: Charity, Tayla, Marek, Graham, Ethan and Madison. Her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Rick Hillman, niece Dana Hillman and nephew Corey Hillman and sons will miss her dearly.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cree, of Pocatello Family Medicine, and all the health care individuals at Hospice Alliance of Idaho for the special care and comfort given to Bonnie and her family.
As per her wishes, a private family gathering will take place in Island Park. Bonnie asked that we hold our memories of her in our hearts and remember the fun and good times we all shared together. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bonnie's name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
