Bob Pevo

Bobby "Bob" Pevo returned to our Creator on December 26, 2020. He was born December 24, 1953 to Gladys Pevo and Leslie Shay. Bob is survived by his brothers, Darrell Shay and Tony Shay, both of Fort Hall. Also surviving are his sisters, AnnaLee Townsend of Fort Hall and Daeda Pevo-Lays Bad of Pocatello. As a young man he went to school in American Falls, in Ogden, Utah, that year he participated on the LDS Placement Program, Chemawa Indian School in Oregon, and Chilocco Boarding School in Oklahoma. Bob was a person who loved life and never took it for granted knowing we would eventually make it back to our Creator and relatives who have gone on. There was much he enjoyed, he loved to travel to powwows and loved to play stick-game. His most favorite pastime was to do his beadwork. He took great pride in creating works of beauty. His beaded Reboks made Fort Hall and the Shoshone Bannock visible to the rest of the world. The Shoshone Bannock are renowned for their beadwork, so he took great pride in showcasing his works. He encouraged many to keep beading and to keep learning because it will help them to become a better craftsperson. Many times, Bob was asked to speak on Shoshone Bannock culture, he always obliged knowing that he would teach many of us the things he spoke of. Bob was Fire Chief during the Buffalo Lodge Sundance; he was teaching the younger people the importance of doing things in a manner that is pleasing to our Creator. He emceed during the Warm Dance and participated as well. Speaking Shoshone to people was something he enjoyed doing, especially during the celebrations and ceremonies that were held throughout the year. Gladys Pevo, May Lipps-Pevo, Dorothy Pevo-George, Herbert W. Pevo, Kenneth Pevo, Sr., Kenneth Pevo, Jr., John J. Pevo, Austin F. Pevo, and Leslie Shay all preceded Bob in death. Bob has many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren surviving him. A traditional burial was held at 1 PM Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Bannock Creek Cemetery.
