Blanche Ethel Poppino,79, lifelong resident of Pocatello died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Portneuf Medical Center West in Pocatello, Idaho. Blanche was born December 7, 1929 in McCammon, Idaho to James E. Sutton and Alma Thomas Sutton along with four brothers and four sisters. Blanche was raised in her early years in the McCammon area and later the family moved to Pocatello and lived on North 11th Avenue. Blanche attended Washington Elementary school up to the third grade when she was forced to quit school due to a medical condition and was never able to return to resume her education. Blanche met Jack E. Haas when she was still in her teen years and they married 1947 and had two children, David and Judy. Jack and Blanche later divorced. Blanche later met and married George Henry Poppino and together they had two children, Vernon and Sandra. George and Blanche lived with their family in a small home they purchased on North Grant. George passed away in 1989. Blanche remained in their family home until 2007 when she decided to take up residence in Ridgewind assisted living center. She liver there until she passed away. Blanche enjoyed Crocheting doilies, playing pool, fishing and playing pinochle with friends once a week. As a younger women Blanche worked as a waitress and also spend time working in the potatoes during harvest season. Her main calling in life was as homemaker and that is where she spent the majority of her time, raising her children and looking after the needs of George. She is survived by children, David (Michael) Haas, Los Angeles, CA., Judy (Ray) Millward, Vernon (Janet) Poppino), Sandra (Carlos) Lugo. siblings J.E. (Ruby) Sutton, Lewiston, Joy (Robert) Middleton, Lansing, Illinois, Fay (Ralph), Nelson, Luella (Dwayne) McIver, 11 grand children, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Blanche is preceded in death by her Mother Alma and Father James sister Helen (Clyde) McGlothin and her brothers and spouses Carl (Pearl), Herb (Della) and Leonard (Esther) Sutton. The family wishes to thank all the fine people at RidgeWind assisted living facility for the care they gave to Blanche during the final years of her life. A viewing is scheduled for 2:00-2:30 PM on Wednesday the 15th of April at Colonial Funeral Home at 2005 South Fourth Avenue , Pocatello Idaho after which a short private graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Restlawn Cemetery.
