Blance Poulson

d. August 27, 2009

Blanche Elizabeth Sorensen Poulson, 96, of Pocatello passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of August 23, 2009. Blanche was born February 5, 1913 in American Falls, Idaho the only daughter of Lawrence L. Sorensen and Effie Katherine Ellis. She grew up on a farm in American Falls, Idaho in the company of eight brothers. She often said how much she loved her brothers and how good they were to her. They were a tight knit family with love strong enough to sustain them through the trials and joys of life. Blanche graduated from American Falls High School in 1932. She married Fred William Poulson in Rupert, Idaho on April 22, 1934. Their union was blessed with three children, Jack Edward, Jerry William and Helen Iris. Blanche was a beautiful seamstress and throughout her life helped support her family with this talent as well as sewing for her children and grandchildren. Blanche worked at Fargos and Blocks retail stores in Pocatello. She was passionate about her family and spent the last years of her life receiving tender and loving care in the homes of her son, Jack and daughter, Helen. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, son, Jerry, parents, brothers, Lawrence, Atley, Leo, Harvey, Westley, Kenneth and three brothers who died in infancy. She is survived by two brothers, Bert Sorensen, Blackfoot, ID, and Gene (Mary Kay) Sorensen, Orem, UT and sister-in-law, Christine Sorensen, son, Jack (Renee) Poulson, Boise, ID and daughter, Helen (Don) Baldwin, Pocatello, nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. As we mourn the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother it is with joy in our hearts to know she is now free from the ills and turmoil of this life and the constraints of her mortal body. What a glorious reunion there must be on the other side of the veil as she is welcomed into the arms of loved ones waiting for her there. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the 41st Ward Chapel, 1700 Kinghorn. A viewing will be held from 10 to 10:45 am at the church prior to services. Burial will be at the Neeley Cemetery following the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave, Pocatello.
