Blaine L. Bennett

January 8, 1938 — April 8, 2009

POCATELLO " Blaine L. Bennett, 71, passed away peacefully at home following a short illness, with his wife and daughter, Sheri, by his side.
Blaine was born January 8, 1938 in Inkom, Idaho to Douglas K. and Virginia (Lish) Bennett.
On July 19, 1957, he married Iva Lee Pratt in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Blaine was a Journeyman Mason. He and his sons did masonry work as Bennett and Sons Masonry. He also worked full-time for Crown, Cork and Seal (Continental Can Co.) where he retired after 36 years.
Blaine enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife in their motor home, riding 4-wheelers, hunting, rodeo, horses, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an extremely hard working man and loved working with his children. At any time during the summer you might find him on his front porch swing visiting with the neighborhood kids or his grandchildren. He loved children, animals, and the elderly, but never considered himself as being elderly.
Blaine is survived by his wife, Lee, of almost 52 years; his children, Sheri (Don) Quick of Chubbuck; Robert (Lorena) Bennett of Portland, OR; Julie (Lonnie) Birkenfeld of Phoenix, AZ; Steven (Marides) Bennett of Tacoma, WA; and Vicky (Craig) Raybon of Black Diamond, WA, his brother, Randy Bennett of Lincoln, CA; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many, many good friends, and his faithful companion, Frosty.
He was preceded in death by his 9 year old son, Ronald Blaine, who passed away in 1967; his parents, and his brother, Douglas Kay Bennett.
His passing leaves a great void in our family, and he will be tremendously missed. We love you, Dad!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, April 13, 2009, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, with Robert Sweat conducting. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8PM and for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718
Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718; or a charitable organization of your choice in Blaine's name.
