Blaine Coffin

d. April 26, 2011

POCATELLO-Blaine Dee Coffin, our much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed from this life on April 26, 2011 at his home in Pocatello. He was born to Golden (Dutch) and Julia Coffin in Downey, Idaho on December 18, 1929. He married Ann Marie Gregerson on January 18, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 26, 1967. Blaine was an accomplished and meticulous building contractor who tended to every detail of his work. He created beautiful and durable homes throughout Southeast Idaho. He was one of those rare builders who could build a home from the ground to the finest finish detail. Blaine shared his skills as a builder with sons and grandsons, some of whom have continued his legacy as a master craftsman. Blaine was amazingly strong physically and remained so even during his last illness. One of his favorite events was a yearly Christmas Party he and Ann gave for family and friends. Blaine was a great storyteller with an infectious laugh. He loved to travel with Ann, his children and grandchildren. He traveled to Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Tahiti and Hawaii. Most of all he loved traveling to his ranch in Lamoille, NV and hiking the beautiful Ruby Mountains. He attended Pocatello High school and remained a loyal fan throughout his life, attending basketball and football games for many years. Throughout his life, Blaine was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was there with a helping hand when needed. He was particularly devoted to his granddaughter Camary. Over the last ten years Ann has tirelessly cared for Blaine. Ann's loving attention was a blessing. Blaine is survived by his wife Ann, his children Ben (Nancy) Coffin, Doug Coffin, of Pocatello, Idaho, Chris (Brent) Manning, of Bountiful, Utah, Shanna (Bob) Thomas, Kevin (Kathy) Coffin and Deanne Coffin, all of Pocatello, Idaho. He has 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and a great-great- granddaughter expected in July. He is now reunited with his brothers Benny Dale Coffin and Gale Coffin, and sister-Jean Coffin and his children Gary Coffin, Dutchy Coffin and Debbie Coffin. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Juniper Hills Ward Building, 8200 W. Portneuf Road, Pocatello, Idaho, with Bishop Rick Parker, presiding and Bishop Kevin Coffin, Conducting. Friends and family may gather Friday, April 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Burial will follow at the Downey Cemetery.
